Mimesis & Fantasy

Mimesis manages fantasy. Fantasy is that on the line between known and unknown; is a vessel that sees unknown transformed to known, and known to unknown. Mimesis therefore deals with the real and unreal. What is the importance of this--of fantasy itself? Why do we lie? Is it because the truth is not accessible; is the known mere illusion?
