Flesh
The skin connects us, the flesh is that which goes deep; that which awakens the eye and alerts the spirit. Below the skin is the flesh; it is palpable. The spirit is on the skin; the soul is in the flesh. Flesh seeks union, skin differentiates. If not for the skin, when our hands touch, or eyes lock, we would become one. This is called the great mass. The great mass is a future that can never be fulfilled, for it would see humanity become an ocean. The skin would be but foam on the skim of its surface, small islands of bubble and scum. The ocean is to be marvelled upon, can be swam in, but it belongs to the mighty wales and the tiny fish, to the great monsters and strange aliens. The flesh is a place to visit and make art of. Spirit must be lived in, the soul only consulted. Soul is like the mind; together they amount to spirit, isolated, they are dangerous.
