Bangalore Days - Big City

Thoughts On: Bangalore Days (2014)

Three cousins venture into a big city to change their lives.

Thematically similar to Satyajit Ray's masterpiece Big City, Bangalore Days spins a warm tale of the positive transformations possible in a modern city. Repositioned in contemporary Bengaluru and structured around an ensemble cast this sees three young cousins make their steps into maturity and adulthood, bypassing the trappings of city life to establish themselves with pride and affection. This is a pure joy to watch. As characters develop and their story deepens, the more intense this low-key melodrama becomes, leading to a poignant crescendo of a third act that presents an undeniably touching vision of family. Beautifully structured with ardently earnest characters and stirring turns and twists in the plotting, Bangalore Days is honourably heart-warming.
