Terrific; I truly loved Ustaad, from start to end. My favourite film from 2023 was The Boy and the Heron, but it is now Ustaad. It's difficult to formulate in words just how touching it is. Perfectly sentimental, and rife with palpable photogénie, this had my heart in my throat for a good hour - and it is still stuck there as I write now. Capturing a love of life through machinery, Ustaad materialises synchronicity in reality like a heartfelt prayer discerns god in sacred stone. Soul tingling, this has left me bemused as to how I fell out of love with movies; a new personal favourite.
